The last 5 days of September, these disasters happened, from the Philippines, Vietnam, Samoa, and then back to Indonesia. More like a boomerang thrown by mother nature. I just hope there's no ripple effect that would reach San Francisco and then towards the rest of the Bay Area. Not just Tsunamis but maybe like a typhoon. Otherwise I would probably start packing my stuff and runs to the hills. So instead of doing that, I made a list what you'll need for evacuation till you reach the safety zones or evacuation centers. It's just a list man, not a paranoia effect, but you just never know when natural disasters strikes out of no where.
I was just watching the GMA Filipino Channel yesterday, and they were lecturing few items that are necessary to bring with you as an emergency kit, as far of typhoon goes. And there were two things I never thought of as an important items to take with you, which was candies and a whistle blower. Candies gives you that boost when you're low in sugars, so chocolate bars are also a must in emergency evacuations. And a whistle blower, just incase you get yourself trapped somewhere. Sometimes people loses their voice for screaming or yelling too much, and a whistle blower can be a life saver.
For me, I think this would be important to do first, before listing the kits for evacuation.
It's always good to have a family Fireproof Safe or a Gun Safe. The once with combination locks. I say, it's a good idea to throw in your family values in there like old family albums, and other valuables like maybe jewelries. Also your computer External Hard Drives. You might have some business plans and important documents saved up in your External Hard Drives, so throw that in there too.
Anyway, here is my list of the things I would need:
1. Backpack: Just my regular Jansport brand backpack. 2. First Aid Kit: Triple Antibiotic Ointment, Bandages, Imodium A-D, and Tylenol should be enough. 3. Flashlight: I heard separating the batteries until you use it will prevent flashlight from breaking. 4. Lighters: Grab all the lighters I can find in my drawers.
5. Hiking Boots: Sneakers works too, don't use cowboy boots or some dress shoes. 6. Khaki Cap: Sometimes I feel naked without my hat. 7. Windbreaker Jacket: With a hoody and warm enough to sleep out in the cold. 8. Shirt: Throw in an extra t-shirt.
9. Camo Short: Throw in an extra short, I move better with this kind of shorts. 10. Underwears: Throw in two extra boxers and one pair of socks. 11. Towel: Avoid other things for wiping, bring your owl towel. 12. Wallet: Your ID, use cash, cards are no use when there are no electricity.
13. Toilet Papers: At least one should be enough. 14. Cell Phone: Good only if you can get a signal. 15. Dog Repellants: Defense against mad dogs and crazy people that haven't been sleeping for a year. 16. Whistle Blower: Just incase you got into a ditch and got trapped. 17. Compass: Sun rises from the east and sundown to the west.
18. Food: I prefer Nature Valley Bars. 19. Water Bottle: The one with a belt clip. And two extra bottled water. 20. Point & Shoot Camera: With a 2GB or 4GB memory card, and a car battery charger adapter. 21. Notebook and Pens: Whatever that needs to be written down, you can even doodle some images.
22. Toothbrush and Toothpaste: Place in a resealable plastic bag. 23. Burt's Bees Soap: Don't use other people's soaps. Any bars of soap will do. 24. Lock Lid Plastic Container: To store in all electronic gadgets, and cash or wallet, when it gets wet. 25. 35GB USB Key: Store in all personal documents, photos, and scanned old 35mm family photos. 26. Pocket Knife: For cutting ropes, boxes, opening things, and for a defense.
27. Playing Cards: Something to kill boredom, so play poker or 21. 28. Garbage Bags : For dirty clothes, wet cloths, wet towel, and to protect bag stuff from rain. 29. Keys: Your home keys and automobile keys. 30. Waterproof Watch: Nothing fancy. Something tough and waterproof.
Whoever reads this, I best recommend to also make your own list.

I thought it was funny at first. But then I realized how wrong it was. A neighbor were the once who called the cops. Maan don't they know who he was? He even showed some ID to the cops. Other than that, I would be glad if someone calls the cops if someone is breaking into my own home. But if it was me, I would be really disappointed if my own neighboor calls the cops.
Professor Henry Louis Gates Jr., hosted a show on PBS titled African American Lives. It's about African Americans like Quincy Jones, Chris Tucker, Oprah Winfrey, Dr. Mae C. Jemison (female astronaut), and etc., retracing their Genealogy and African Roots through DNA testing. Most African Americans believed to be from Ghana. But actually Cape Coast Castle of Ghana is the place where different tribes of Africa were set sailed from by Portuguese Sailors.
In the show, Dr. Mae C. Jemison has higher DNA percentage of East Asian. She either got her DNA from the Chinese Railroad Men or from the Filipinos that lives in Manila Village of Louisiana. In a way she does looks Filipina. She even mentioned in the show that while her visit in Cambodia, she was thought to be Cambodian. That was pretty interesting.

What is up with the number 5, 50, 150 - any number with 5 lately. What I mean is, Michael Jackson from the Jackson 5 died at the age 50, Farrah Fawcett died the same day, which is the 25th. Few days later Billy Mays died at the age of 50. And then the news says Bernard Madoff are spending 150 years in prison for scamming off people. I predict the dude might get shanked in prison 50 times, payed by a not so happy investors. All these people plays a significant role in the United States. A symbol from pop icon, poster swimsuit icon, an informercial icon (someone that the french would typically used to stereotype americans), and to a super con-man, and there are lots of super con-man in the US alone.
All has the number 5. Now, what so special about the number 5. Well there's a place called Lima in Peru. Peru is the place of the Incas. The same people who calculated 2012. Now, Lima means 5 in Austronisian language. I know because I speak Austronesian.

The prediction were also calculated by the Mayans, Aztecs, and the Egyptians. Authors who wrote books about 2012 made lots of money from it, which is cool. If you can get a good topic, then make some money out of it. But what is up with the 5 man.
Maybe it's not gonna be an apocalypse until later. 2012 would probably the starting point of awakenig, some sort of a realizations from all humanity that a civilization or a culture is about to be changed, by seeing facts through natural disasters and sociological catastrophes in progress. Since most people only believes what they see, 2012 would probably the year. Like people in the old days would only laugh or burn you alive if you say people will one day stand at the moon.
North Korea already spilled the beans, by proudly admitting that the project they are working on, are to wipe The United States off the face of our planet earth. Other than cow farts, the ozone would be so messed up by nuclear toxins that the ice from North Pole will melt even more. And create more flood. Tuvalu Islands is already sinking because of climate change.
Aight, enough of this 5 numbers nonsense, I just felt like writing about it. I'll probably write more about this later on. Maybe sell it. Other than that, my musical gears needed few upgrades...

I know these are just simple questions with simple answers, some might even find them dumb questions. But it's one of them simple questions that has a much deeper answers. So I am gonna give it a try and answer these questions based from experiences as a Filipino. These are of my opinions and facts through quick research and living within the Filipino Community. Mind as well blog about it. I was gonna make a videoblog but I have a fat tongue and talks like a... goober.
Why Filipinos are short: Statistics says short people tend to have longer lifespan than tall people. But not all Filipinos are short. There are tall Filipinos too. Some you can't even tell they are Filipinos until you hear them speaking in Filipinos. Another explanation is that Filipinos has Aeta or Negrito DNA. These people are the first descendant of the Philippines Archipelago. They were considered as Pygmies due to a Genetic Mutation called Insular Drarfism. Filipinos today are actually taller compared to their predecessors. Wealthy Filipinos in the Philippines are also tall because they can afford vitamins to complete their nutrients in their diet. The Spaniards were also tall (spaniards who were born in the philippines) or Mestizos. Majority of these Mestizos were massacred during the Spanish American War by serving as Spanish Soldiers. The Spaniards fled back to Spain or perhaps even to Mexico after Spain sold the Philippines to the Americans for 20 million dollars. Most ethnic Mestizos that survived took the Filipino Entertainment Industries as their safe havens. Some Mestizos work their ways from the Entertainment Industry to Politics. One sample is Tito Sotto from the Eat Bulaga Show. Another is Fernando Poe Jr. Few of my favorite Fernando Poe Jr. flicks are of his series "Isang Bala Ka Lang" meaning "You Worth Only One Bullet". More like the Filipino version of Dirty Harry except Fernando Poe Jr, plays a Rebel. These two actors turned politicians are good people.
Why Filipinos are loud: I work with lots of Filipinos from the past, from different regions, and it don't matter if they were either Tagalogs, Ilocanos, or Visayans, but most of time, the loud once are the Filipinos that grew up in the Big Cities like Metro Manila. Even Jeepney Drivers, and Tricycle Drivers can be loud too. People that lives in the mountain sides are also loud. Like the Igorot Tribes. I know this is dumb but I have a distant relative from my town with a Japanese sounding last name, he even looked Japanese. Anyway I made the conclusion that his rowdy behavior could be Japanese DNA. Or maybe it's just a common personality just like any other people with high blood pressures. I also been told that Filipinos with Kinky or Curly hair are quick tempered because of common high blood pressures, which makes them loud people. That loudness personality could also trace back from the Papua New Guinean DNA. Papuans are loud in general.
Why Filipinos are quiet: It's normal for anyone to be shy. Most Asians are shy in general. Could also be their long lost descendants from Quanzhou of Fujian Province in China. I believe the province they were from were peaceful people, quiet, maybe loud in Chinese New Years. Plus in the Philippines, most people who lives in low land provinces didn't have to be loud, people come and go, so it's also genetic that they are simply quiet. Not that it's not normal to be quiet, some people are just not loud. Another reason, is when people in the low land provinces gets loud, they are usually made fun of or ridiculed as uncivilized Mountain People. It's a Spanish influence to make fun of Mountain Tribesman as Salvajes' (savages). Others say some Filipinos are quiet because of political oppressions for many many years from the Spaniards, Americans, Japanese, and then later the corrupt side of The Philippines Government after the first and then the second Indipendence. There were lots of domestic killings ever since from conflicts through Martial Laws, Regional Territory, Religious Diplomacy, Anti-Government Agendas, Clans vs Clans. Until there's nothing more to say and better off to just be quiet and let the guns do all the talking.
Why Filipinos are not Vegetarians: What? Filipinos loves vegetables. And because Filipinos can eat both Vegetarian and Meat. Filipino Americans and Immigrants survived the Great Depression from eating mustard seeds, taros, sweet potato leaves, okras, sometimes stuff Americans would not even considered eatable like pig feet, pig tails, pig ears, fish heads, and fish tails. Plus Filipinos can Adobo mostly anything, all you need is soy-sauce, garlic, onions, pepper, and vinegar to season what ever you wanna Adobo like pork, chicken, beef, fish, shrimps, clams, crabs, squids, octopus, tofu, bamboo shoots, the list goes on and rather not write what the rest are. The most popular vegetarian dish with meat or without is Pinakbet from the Ilocos. Sinigang is also a favorite vegetable soup but with meat. Some Filipinos back in the day (not too sure about today) in the Philippines were actually embarrassed of eating all vegetarian diets, and considered as a sign of poverty by Spanish influence. Most Spaniards favor adding pork to their recipes.
Why are there so many Filipino DJs: Filipinos were social groups since they settled in the Islands, always into music and dancing. Back in the day, like In 1930's The Lost Generation and The Greatest Generation were into Big Band Music. Maybe the first South East Asians to have Vinyl Record Players in their homes. And then for The Baby Boomers back in the 60's and 70's were Filipinos who embraced Western Pop Culture, and they DJ for Barrio Fiestas, Cha-Cha Contests, and Disco Clubs. Karaoke is also big, anything American and Latin Tangos. Some of these Baby Boomers also made Bands doing Cover Rock Music and had gigs in Japan. As well as collectors of Vinyl Records and Eight Tracks. Then came The Generation X as well as the birth of The Hip-Hop Culture. It was the Break-Dancing that caught the Filipino Youth's attention first, and then the music. The parents already had the turntables, and vinyl collections a basic starting points for them kids becoming DJs. Filipino parents that were nurses or wealthy enough spoiled their kids in any way they can just so their kids can socialized with American Kids. As long as they promised to get good grades and become doctors, lawyers, or nurses, they can be DJs. Turned out these kids didn't just become DJs but evolved unto cultural pioneers. Don't get me wrong now, if I have kids of my own I definitely want them to become doctors, lawyers, or nurses too. But open minded enough to let them choose a passion of their own. Like in the Arts and Music. There are lots of talented Filipinos but they had to be either masters of socializing or has good professions to back up their dreams. In some ways, skills are made rather than being born to it. Musical Savants usually comes 1 out of 1000 or less. Or more. Philippines isn't a big country. But if you go to the Philippines most of them knows more American Pop Music from the 70's and 80's than some Americans. They could sing all these music like taking a Tabo Shower in that one Filipino Show called Wooowee, my folks watches Wowowee religiously. They even went to their shows.
Why Filipinos are organized: True, maybe because of hundreds of years of oppressions and disciplines by Catholic Ideologies. Perhaps it has to do with creativity. Even in a messy unorganized places like in the poor communities, the Filipinos living there has organize ways of thinking. Survival purposes. They know what are worth organizing and not really worth organizing. Sadly some don't really care or lost all their hopes and turned unto something else. The main motive is to get out of the country and make money outside the Philippines. You can tell by the way Filipinos write on a piece of paper. The way they write are clean and organized - when they take notes. Education for a success are worth organizing than organizing the bad environment they lived on. But when these same people succeed and earned enough or have made it, they evolved by organizing their environment, and proud to socialize to other Filipinos and shows off their homes. A sense of pride and self respect.

There was another North Korean long range missile test-fire called Taepodong-2 back in 2006 but it failed. The recent rocket lift-off was from Sunday at 11:30 am (Eastern Time). The South Korean Newspaper says that the lift-off was a success. Other says it was another failure. If it was a real Nuclear Missile, it could reach up to 4700 miles from North Korea to Hawaii and Alaska. Possibly even in California. Maaan if Osama or a country that hates America with already developing Nuclear Weapons gets a hold to this project, North Korea would be a rich country until that same project backlashes. Communism and Islamist clashes too. But money do talk, my brother says right before our Sunday dinner. And it does makes a lot of sense. In the other hand, I don't think North Korea is dumb enough to do so. Remember the war between Russia and Afghanistan? I don't think these two will negotiate business on how to blow up the world. To me, the rocket would be more of an extortion situation. President Obama is now making peace to other countries soon as possible. Making our allies closer than before. Like France and India. Iraq in my belief is already an American Territory. A Capitalist owned, rooted from the Bush Administration. Obama is just cleaning up the mess where Bush left off. Iran might be on the counteroffensive mode for that reason.
I guess make friends with North Korea already? Although the land has nothing much to offer. Capitalism just doesn't work well with Socialism. Except for the Chinese style Special Economic Zones, a movement towards Capitalism. Could that also be part of the Taepodong Missiles Project. If it is, then it is a threat.
As ghetto as it may seemed. Sardines are very tasty. Sometimes I do get tempted to get a burger. But rather save it for something else. Perhaps for hiking later, or a movie, soon as I am done with these current projects.
I'm also waiting for an update about the imminent missile launch from North Korea. Supposedly, the launch starts today till the 8th of this month. What if it's really a long range test-fire, other than a satellite. The satellite could also be a device to pin point targets. Kim Jong-il recently had a stroke. What is Kim Jong-il's last goal before he's gone.
I found the blog from The Jawa Report. I was just browsing about the detained No. 2 suspect of the Mexican Juarez Cartel, and not only that I found what I was looking for, I also found this story of the Taliban flogging a 17 year old girl. Jeeez man, American girls has it easy and very lucky to be far from this type of laws. She was probably just talking to a girl next door or something.
Here's the grainy 3GP video being sent from phone to phone throughout Southeast Asia showing Sharia Law. In it Taliban enforcers in Pakistan's Swat Valley, which has just made peace with the Islamists and instituted Sharia Law, are seen beating a young girl.
Her crime? Either she was caught leaving a man's house without a chaperon or she's been accused of fornication.
Good thing she wasn't married and caught in the act in which case the punishment would be stoning to death.
The caption accompanying the video at Liveleak says her screams are translated as, “Please! Enough! Enough!” and, “I am repenting, my father is repenting what I have done, my grandmother is repenting what I have done...”.

Mexico arrests suspected No. 2 in Juarez drug cartel.
Vicente Carrillo Leyva, the 32-year-old son of deceased drug kingpin Amado Carrillo Fuentes, was arrested Wednesday while exercising in a wealthy neighborhood of Mexico City.
Reporting from Mexico City -- Mexican authorities on Thursday announced the capture of Vicente Carrillo Leyva, a suspected top leader of a family-run drug gang based in Ciudad Juarez and one of the country's most wanted figures.
In the future perhaps Marijuana are going to be legalized just like how alcohol and tobacco are legal today. Remember the Al Capone Era in the 1930's when there were many mobster killings just like Mexico today. Actually there was another Mexico Drug Cartel Wars back in the 80's. Except the drug wars was in Columbia, between Cartel Kingpin Pablo Escobar and the Los Pepes as well as Americans. Los Pepes were known as an underground short lived vigilante groups who executed anyone who works or related to Pablo Escobar. From what I read and research, rumors says that the Los Pepes were funded by rival cartels known as the Cali Cartel. These rivals also has ties to the Columbian Government, and the real intentions was to take over the cocaine industry of Columbia and make an underground corporate relation with the US. But the DEA had an eye on it more ever since. My point is, Marijuana might become legal anytime soon. And it will be treated with the same laws like alcohol and tobacco. You gotta be 21 to get it. You can't drive vehicles or be at a public area if smoking it. There will probably be signs for Chronic Smoker Area Only. Or some sort of a Hookah Lounges that serves Marijuana. Maybe they'll even have some sort of a sober pills. As you go out in public coming from the Lounge, the Lounge first offers you a sober pills or some kind.
In my opinion, soon as they have them cars that drives itself automatically, and the existence of robotic maids, Marijuana will probably be legal then here in the US. Consequently, legalizing Marijuana is also a gateway for other kinds of narcotics. Bad drugs like Opium, Heroin, Cocaine, Methamphetamine, and Ecstasy. That wouldn't be good. Unless there will be more jobs in the Medical Field for that issue. Hardcore junkies wouldn't be afraid and hiding their addictions anymore, they can easily go to a hospital legally and get treated. The media just have to show more TV Ads on how drugs kills. Just like the TV Ads today against tobacco companies. Don't take my sarcasm twisted now. But again, you just never know.

I think these two American journalists are being treated well, and probably be allowed to document about the plan to test-fire the long-range rocket. Just to point out to the world that there should be nothing to worry about. Japan, US, and South Korea are pushing UN sanction but such move are being blocked by China and Russia.
I have seen some footage though on how some North Koreans treats their prisoners. And they are ruthless. From young men and women, and to the older folks, they all get the brutal beat-downs. But for these two American journalists, could be far from the typical North Korean imprisonment. Unless North Koreans are making a foolish move, an invitation of another useless conflict at a time of global economic crises. I don't know much about communism but this might be the right seasons for them to gain more power.
The journalists were identified by people familiar with their plans as Laura Ling and Euna Lee of San Francisco-based Current TV LLC. The two women and two men had been interviewing North Korean refugees in the border towns.
The group was believed to be filming in or near the shallow river that separates the two countries when soldiers that guard the North Korean border took them. However, details were uncertain.
That's North Korea right there on the top. The Japanese are paranoid about the idea of a missile test-fire, and so the Japanese are launching a rocket of their own to shoot down the North Korean's missile, just before it reaches it's goal. Maaan that's next week.
I didn't know these music were being used for torturing the Talibanes and Terrorist Suspects at Guantanamo. To me I feel amused, discussed, and feel remorse for the artist who created the tracks. At first I thought it was funny, and then I thought daamn that's messed up. It's bad enough for them to hate the western pop culture. Imagine the Pope or Mother Teresa chained up and had to be forced listen to these music using loud speakers. I know they are no Pope or Mother Teresa but I could just imagine how that would be.

I ain't sure if it was Iceland or Denmark that students doesn't have to pay loans to go to collage because their government pay their students to go to college. And maaan, I thought they'll never gonna have problems towards their governments because of that. Tough times around the world. Even in Iceland. A place I never thought of even having a government.
Now I am questioning if we are not far behind them. And what in the hell happened? In my best opinion to catch up in times like this is to lay low on luxuries for now, and get with them close relatives or friends that your closed with under one roof. Speaking of humbleness, It's becoming like Philippines where they ridicule people that are too high in luxuries because the economy was too corrupted for long time. It's true! The only difference to some folks in the Philippines is their religious morality although life can be really difficult. There are areas in the Philippines though that are more laid back if your the type of person that likes things really simple. The only catch is lack of securities, and chances are militant groups will offer you with their own versions of better hopes. Philippines was about to pick up a bit and then came the Intel mass layoffs. One thing though, if I have some big money saved right now? I'll probably spent it to buy cheap houses. Sell your big house, buy small house, rent a small room and get that cheap house rented out when the economy picked up a bit. Yeah? Maybe? No? I don't know, Im no relator and I don't even know if that would even work.
That's History right there. And part of history doesn't necessarily means perfection either. Well, in a way it is perfect no matter what the situation was, it happened and it will be talked about. Even the boooing part. For the fact that President Obama has to do the oath over again just to make sure that he really does have the power as president, is pretty much a big symbol of the process of change. I heard stuff in the news about the man (John G. Roberts) that gave the oath was a rookie and never made a big mistake before on his speeches, and that he was well known to a lot of people that he is legit and that he is a good man. It was a bit obvious to sense how Bush reacted about the mistake, when he was being escorted by the Obamas to the Chopper. Not that I am against the Bush Administration in anyway, I am just blogging about what I saw.
After escorting the Bushes, President Obama even forgot that each of the folders he had to sign had it's own pen to sign with. That's a lot of pen. Why not one pen for all them folders to symbolize the economy or something.
I ain't done transferring all my stuff to the other room yet. Just the other day my family and I were just clearing out some of the stuff stored in the hallway cabinets. We needed the cabinets for other stuff but I am going to transfer my stuff to a much more secure place. Most of them were my old stuff from my High School and Community College days. I was sorta surprised how some of my graphics supplies were well preserved: Prismacolor Pencils, Charcoals, Watercolor Paints, Rapidograph Pens (the rest of my rapidograph pens were borrowed by an old friend named Johnen Vasquez - the dude never gave them back, but is cool - it's amazing how some of his works evolved to become well known in the comic book industry today - his also the creator of the nickelodeon cartoon series titled Invader Zim), and etc. There's no reason to play the violin here, because I chose not to do this professionally, one thing for sure I was sorta tired of people asking favors to make them art works for free... lol! I did work as a graphic artist to some Clip Art company, but I had other Ideas then. And that Idea somewhat faded away and forgotten, and so on. Sometimes I do make some sketches like for making notes and stuff, and it actually looks more well rounded than before.
Here are two samples of what I did back in High School. A pointillism style using pen & ink medium. They were for a Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. district poster, both won grand price through out the district, one from my softmore year and the other from my senior year - I used the last reward for my first SLR camera.

Inauguration. Today is the day for the man. And maaan I wish I be there to take some pictures in Washington DC. That's good History right there...
